BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own.
Master Police Officer Dale Barbiea, badge number 11, died Saturday after a battle with cancer.
Barbiea served the Bowling Green Police Department with distinction from January 2008 until the morning of June 14, 2025.
BGPD says Barbiea served as a Patrol Officer, K9 Officer, and was the longest tenured Crisis Negotiator.
Barbiea was a Louisville native. Before joining the Bowling Green Police Department, he served as a police officer in Jackson, Tennessee, and was a championship-winning rodeo cowboy.
BGPD says Barbiea served the elderly community, delivering meals and repairing items to help save them money.
“Knowing Dale meant you had to smile. We will miss his stories, his food opinions, and his presence, but his memory will always live on and bring joy to future members of the BGPD. Rest easy, Hoss,” said the department in a social media post.
