Australian tennis player Daria Saville was disappointed in some of her fellow WTA colleagues after some reportedly didn’t even bother to ask how she was doing following a horrifying knee surgery. On Tuesday, Saville collapsed onto the court after severely injuring her left knee.
The MRI results showed a torn ACL. “Thanks to everyone who has messaged me, it means the world. On the other hand, I’m s—listing some of my colleagues who literally saw me today on crutches in Tokyo and didn’t say a word.
It cannot be hard to be a nice person. Just makes sad and makes me not wanna go through it all again to make a comeback on the tour and spend most of the time and seeing these people, And colleagues that did take a second from their busy lives waiting for their practice or match to say something.
You’re in good list. I love you,” Saville wrote in a message posted on her Instagram Story.
Naomi Osaka rushed to Saville
Saville and Osaka were just 14 minutes into their Tokyo first round match when the Australian suffered a serious knee injury.
After Osaka realized what had happened, she rushed onto the other side of the court. The Japanese grabbed a towel so she could cover Saville, who was in pain and screaming “my knee.” Unfortunately for Saville, she is set for another long injury break.
At the start of the 2022 season, Saville made a comeback from an Achilles injury. Saville, who was ranked well outside the top-500 at the start of the year, returned inside the top-100. It was a good season for Saville all up until she suffered a serious knee injury.
Now, she is set to again miss extended time and will have to start from the scratch when she eventually returns to the court. Torn ACL usually requires a longer period of rehabilitation and we may not see Saville in action until this stage of the 2023 season.
