(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A rideshare driver called 911 on Sunday morning, Aug. 24, reporting that a woman and her dog had been taken from his vehicle while stopped at a red light at South Academy Boulevard and East Bijou Street, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
CSPD reported that around 8:45 a.m., the caller reported the kidnapping and described the suspect’s vehicle and license plate, and officers began searching the area. Officers found the vehicle, which was determined to be stolen, with a stolen license plate on it. The suspect was driving the car southbound on Circle Drive near Hancock Expressway.
According to CSPD, the suspect jumped out of the car and ran, but officers were able to catch and detain him quickly. Police reported that the kidnapping victim was later found, and she had not been physically harmed.
The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Vaughn Fejerang, was arrested for domestic violence, kidnapping, and other charges.
