Storm chances will stick around parts of New Mexico through Thursday. Drier and hotter weather returns starting the Fourth of July.
Storms are fewer and farther between Tuesday across New Mexico. Most of the storms are in far western, central, and northern New Mexico with light rain in southeast parts of the state. With the cloud cover across most of New Mexico today, high temperatures are also cooler compared to yesterday for many. The storms will end later tonight, but a few showers and thunderstorms will stick around southeast New Mexico into Wednesday morning.
Heavy rain will be possible Wednesday afternoon with more showers and thunderstorms, especially across southern and western New Mexico. More monsoon moisture will continue streaming into New Mexico from the west Wednesday night, keeping spotty rain showers around into Thursday morning across the western half of the state. Numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop again Thursday afternoon, bringing a chance for rain to almost all of New Mexico.
Drier air quickly moves in though by Friday morning, bringing hotter and drier weather for the Fourth of July. A few spotty showers or storms will be possible across some mountain peaks, but almost all of the state will be dry. This hotter and dry weather will continue into Saturday.
Storm chances will move back into eastern New Mexico on Sunday. For the western half of the state, temperatures will continue to heat up Sunday, but highs will be slightly cooler in eastern New Mexico. Rain chances become more widespread into early next week, but the heat will stick around.
