BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- ‘Welcome Back WKU’ kicked off on Monday on the south lawn of campus to give students a little taste of what the city of Bowling Green has to offer.
Free food, free shirts, and more were given out during the event to help introduce students to the community.
Many businesses and non-profits were in attendance to greet new and returning students.
Students learned about community non-profits, businesses, and job opportunities.
“It’s just a great way for them to be able to meet, you know, people that are going to be in the field that they might work in one day or, a service they might need eventually, or a bank or whatever the reason may be.” Jack Blair, a mortgage lender at South Central Bank stated. “It’s just a good way for the community to give back to the students and the students to kind of have a sense of home and belonging when they go to these places outside of campus.”
‘Welcome Back WKU’ is a great way for new students to get to know a little more about Bowling Green and really make it their home away from home.
The event was hosted by the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce.
