A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Wednesday for allegedly receiving and producing sex abuse material with a then-minor, prosecutors said.
The arrest of Carle Miranda Blum, 51, comes after the filing of a federal complaint alleging that she received multiple videos and images of the victim, who was 17 years old at the time, engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the United States Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Florida.
In the spring of 2025, Blum traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, where she recorded multiple videos of herself engaging in sex acts with the victim, the complaint said.
“I am very disturbed by the arrest of one of our deputies on charges related to receipt and production of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors,” Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said in a statement. “These allegations are not only criminal, they are a betrayal of the badge, the public trust, and the oath we swear to uphold. The actions alleged stand in direct opposition to everything we represent as law enforcement officers and as human beings. We have assisted our federal partners throughout the investigation, and I remain committed to full transparency and accountability, no matter who is involved.”
Blum faces a charge of production of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors, which carries a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and a statutory maximum of up to 30 years.
She also faces a charge of receipt of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors, which carries a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a statutory maximum of up to 20 years.
