CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — A Clifton man was recently arrested after a five-month child exploitation investigation by the Crawfordsville Police Department.
According to a news release from the department, investigators with the Crawfordsville Police Department’s internet crimes against children unit conducted a search warrant at the home of Matthew Newnum.
During the search of the home, officials said that Newnum was taken into custody. The release said that Newnum was booked into the Vermillion County Jail on preliminary charges of:
- Child exploitation, a Level 5 felony
- Possession of child sexual abuse material, a Level 6 felony
“The Crawfordsville Police Department remains committed to protecting children and pursuing those who exploit them,” the release said.
Officials said the investigation was conducted with the assistance of the following law enforcement agencies:
- Rockville Police Department ICAC Unit
- West Terre Haute Police Department ICAC Unit
- Clinton Police Department
- Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department
