City pools open May 26 through August 10
The Parks and Recreation Department today announced opening dates to register for swim and dive team leagues and swimming lessons. Registration is available online at lincoln.ne.gov/pools or at the Aquatics Office, second floor, 1225 “F” St. The schedule is as follows:
- Swim and dive leagues: 9 a.m. Monday, April 7 – This program is for ages 6 to 18. Enrollment is limited to 100 per team, and early registration is suggested. The registration fee is $80 for either swim or dive team with an additional fee to add a second event.
Swim teams are planned at Ballard, Belmont, Eden, Highlands, Irvingdale, Star City Shores, University Place and Woods Pools. Dive teams are planned at Eden, Highlands, Irvingdale, University Place and Woods Pools. Practice begins June 2. The season ends with the All-City Meets on July 18 (dive and swim) and July 19 (swim) at the Devaney Center.
- Parker’s Swim Lessons: Monday, May 12 – Each session is a multi-week swimming program taught at most pools. Levels taught are parent and child – age 6 through 36 months; preschool – age 3 through 5; levels 1 to 5 – age 6 and older. Registration is $70 per child per session. Sessions of levels and class times vary by location. Not all locations offer all levels or times. Visit lincoln.ne.gov/pools for schedules or call the Aquatics Office at 402-441-7960.
