NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The Carolinas continue to be impacted by Chantal whose downgraded to a Tropical Depression on Sunday.


As a Tropical Storm, it made landfall in the Carolinas early Sunday morning bringing the chance for flash flooding, storm surge, life-threatening surf and rip current risks along with the possibility for tornadoes.
The National Weather Service issued up to five tornado warnings for areas surrounding Raleigh-Durham, N.C. on Sunday.

The storm continues to move north-northeast at 10-mph with sustained winds at 30-mph.
It brings flash flooding concerns to central North Carolina and south-central Virginia into Monday morning.
Life-threatening surf and rip currents are expected at beaches from northeastern Florida up to the Mid-Atlantic states over the next few days so if you plan on taking to those beaches please exercise extra caution.
