Firefighter injured in vacant house fire in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – A firefighter was left injured Thursday morning after responding to a vacant house fire in north St. Louis.

The fire happened around 6 a.m. on the 5100 block of Wells Avenue in north St. Louis’ Academy/Sherman Park neighborhood.

The firefighter was injured as crews worked to put out the fire, according to the St. Louis Fire Department. The firefighter sustained an ankle injury and was transported to a nearby hospital.
