A child has died after they were found unresponsive near a suburban residential pool on Friday afternoon.
According to Buffalo Grove fire officials, paramedics were called to a home in the 100 block of Copperwood Drive at approximately 6:30 p.m. for reports of a child found unresponsive near a residential pool.
When paramedics arrived, they found a 5-year-old boy who had been pulled from the water, and bystanders were performing CPR. Paramedics took over, and the child was rushed to an area hospital.
That child, a Plainfield resident, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital, authorities said.
The incident remains under investigation, and no further information was immediately available.
