BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo woman was sentenced to 90 days in jail followed by five years of probation after she fatally hit a woman last November, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
Officials said 23-year-old Niyonna Cunningham was under the influence of alcohol when she hit and killed 62-year-old Madonna Bishop.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Nov. 28, 2024 near the intersection of Boehm Place and Bailey Avenue. Cunningham was driving a Ford SUV with an infant inside and was under the influence. Bishop was taken to ECMC and pronounced deceased.
Cunningham pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular manslaughter in May and originally faced a maximum of seven years in prison.
