Former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman, real name Adam Scherr, has finally returned home after a health scare that required emergency surgery. The former WWE star provided a positive update on his condition via social media on Friday, confirming that he has been discharged from the hospital. This news comes as a relief to his fanbase, who had been anxiously waiting for updates after Strowman revealed the severity of an infection in his knee earlier in the week.
Strowman detailed the harrowing experience that led to his hospitalization, explaining that a seemingly minor issue quickly escalated into a dangerous situation. He noted that the infection had targeted the bursa around his patella, a condition that can cause immense pain and swelling if left untreated. The situation became critical enough that doctors were forced to intervene surgically to drain the fluid and remove the infected bursa.
“Discharged!!! Lots of antibiotics to take now and gotta take it easy for a few more days before back in the gym,” Strowman wrote, sharing his relief at finally leaving the medical facility. “But I can’t wait to get home and see my pups!!! Again thank you for all the prayers and well wishes from around the world. I’m so blessed to have the support and love from so many. All Glory to God for his mercy and love.”
Earlier in the week, Strowman had been transparent about the terrifying nature of the infection, which he described as getting “out of control” rapidly. In a post made prior to his discharge, he offered a graphic description of the procedure he underwent, highlighting the physical toll the infection had taken on his body.
“I had an infection in my bursa around my patella in my knee, and it got out of control. So they went in this morning. They removed the bursa from my knee, drained a bunch of fluid out of it, and then left the wound open to continue to drain,” Strowman explained. “It’s going to be a couple of days still, taking it easy. I think I gotta stay in here one more night and then I get to go home. And then, yeah, recovery. Still got a ways to go to get over this hump all the way with the infection and stuff, but the pain is finally starting to subside some. It doesn’t feel like my kneecap is going to explode off anymore.”
His travel and food series, Everything on the Menu, which is produced by WWE, has proven to be a hit with audiences. The show features Strowman traveling across the country to indulge in local culinary delights, showcasing a more personable side of the man who once flipped ambulances on Monday Night Raw. The series was recently picked up for a second season, validating Strowman’s transition from in-ring competitor to television host.
This hospitalization marks the second significant health setback for Strowman in January 2026 alone, compounding what has been a difficult start to the year. Just two weeks prior, on January 14, Strowman was involved in a car accident that resulted in a sore neck, an incident he also shared with his followers on social media.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
