DANVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — What started as a routine traffic stop in Boyle County turned into a major drug bust, according to the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say they pulled over a vehicle in Danville and immediately smelled marijuana coming from inside. A search was conducted after K9 Bruno alerted to the presence of drugs, leading deputies to discover two pounds of suspected methamphetamine hidden inside a taped-up kitty litter box.
The driver, Ramon Drake of Lexington, and passenger Iman Hawkins of Georgetown, were arrested and are now facing multiple drug trafficking charges. Both suspects are being held at the Boyle County Detention Center.
