DENVER (KDVR) — On Tuesday, the city of Boulder announced that a cyclist died following a crash that occurred earlier this month.
In a press release, the city said that Daniel Bench, 88, died on Monday night after being involved in a crash that happened on Edgewood Street and 24th Street on Aug. 4.
At around 9 a.m., the Boulder police received a report of a crash between a cyclist and a Chevrolet Silverado.
After the initial investigation, the city said that Bench allegedly “did not yield at the stop sign at the crosswalk” and rode in front of the Silverado, where he was ultimately hit. The driver of the Silverado stayed at the scene and was uninjured.
The city of Boulder also noted that it is part of Vision Zero, a nonprofit campaign designed to help communities create safer roads by eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries for all road users. While on the roads around Boulder, the city says it should be safe “no matter how you travel.”
“Avoid distractions. Be mindful. Look out for one another,” said the city.
The city said that the investigation of the crash remains ongoing.
