Boston is looking at cooler temperatures and drier weather headed into the next week, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
“We’re looking at a quiet week this week with cooler than average temperatures for most of the week,” said NWS meteorologist Bryce Williams. “We’ll see highs, about 20 degrees cooler than (Sunday).”
Monday is expected to see a much lower high in the low 70s, with mostly sunny skies, forecasts show. The dry, mostly sunny weather is forecasted to continue through Tuesday, while the high may climb closer to the mid-70s, NWS states.
Typical average highs for this time of year are in the low 80s, Williams said, meaning highs throughout the week are anticipated to be five to 10 degrees below normal.
Wednesday is expected to see continued high temperatures in the mid-70s and a turn to partly cloudy skies, NWS forecasts.
“The only chance of some widely scattered showers would be around Wednesday, about midweek,” said Williams. “But it’s a low probability. More than the likely it will be dry for the whole week.”
Thursday is forecast to see more mostly sunny and clear weather and a high temperature edging warmer into the mid-70s, NWS states.
“Not until Friday, and closer to the weekend, that we’ll start to get to the upper 70s and low 80s,” said Williams.
The region may also see a distant impact of Hurricane Erin, Williams said, which has moved up from south of the U.S. through the weekend.
“Hurricane Erin will be passing well to our southwest,” said Williams. “And the only impact we’ll see from that is increased waves and surf on our waters, more so for our southern facing beaches. But the seas will be rougher than normal for all of our marine zone or marine areas around the mid to late week period.”
