SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop Monday for San Diego International Airport due to foggy conditions, prompting delays for a number of inbound and outbound flights.
The ground stop was issued just before 8 a.m. and is expected to remain in place until just after 9 a.m. due to low flight ceilings. Per the FAA, there is a low probability of extension, but delays and other impacts from the ground stop could be linger throughout the day.
As of 9 a.m., 65 departing and arriving flights have been delayed, while two have been canceled, according to the air travel website, FlightAware. Delays are averaging about 15 to 30 minutes.
Travelers headed to the airport Monday are encouraged to check their flight status before arriving at the terminal using San Diego International Airport’s online tracker or with their air carrier.
