CHICAGO (WGN) — The Chicago Bears have signed a former Northwestern tight end to replace an injured member in the same position group.
According to the Bears, they have officially signed tight end Thomas Gordon to the roster, and waived injured tight end Jordan Murray.
Gordon, an undrafted rookie out of Northwestern University, played in 12 games and made 10 starts for the Wildcats as a 24-year-old graduate student in 2024.
He hauled in 27 catches for 252 yards and a TD on his way to being named Academic All-Big Ten. His best games in a Northwestern uniform came on Oct. 19, 2024, against Wisconsin and Sept. 10, 2022, against Duke.
Gordon hauled in four catches for 49 yards against the Badgers and made five catches for 78 yards against the Blue Devils.
Murray suffered a groin injury that held him out of training camp going back to Sunday’s practice. He joined the Bears in January as a reserve/future signing after spending time with the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants.
The Bears will participate in a joint practice with the Miami Dolphins Friday before the two square off in each franchise’s first preseason game of 2025 on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon CT on NFL Network at Soldier Field.
