SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The unseasonably cool weather the Bay Area has been enjoying for most of the summer is set to give way to high temperatures this week. Temperatures are set to spike on Thursday with the National Weather Service forecasting many inland spots to hit the low 100s.
“We’re about to turn the page back to another very hot chapter later this week,” said KRON4 Meteorologist John Shrable.
Temperatures will begin to rise noticeably on Wednesday. According to Shrable, parts of the Bay Area could see “searing” temperatures on Thursday and Friday.
“Be ready for some heat Thursday,” the NWS said on X.
Typically, San Francisco and areas immediately around the bay shore are likely to avoid the worst of the heat. But the NWS is predicting high 90s in North Bay cities like Cloverdale and Santa Rosa Thursday and Friday.
San Jose could hit 95 degrees Thursday. The worst heat, however, could be in the East Bay with Concord expected to hit 107 Thursday before dropping to 102 on Friday.
For those looking to escape the heat, the best bet may be heading to the beach. Temps in coastal enclaves like Half Moon Bay and Pacifica are only expected to top out in the high 60s Thursday and Friday.
