The Bangor International Airport will reopen to regular traffic at noon Thursday, spokesperson Aimee Thibodeau said.
The runway has been closed since Sunday night following Maine’s deadliest passenger plane crash in decades. All six aboard the private jet that inverted and caught fire while attempting to take off are presumed dead, but officials have not confirmed the identities of any victims.
Officials have not formally identified anyone aboard the aircraft, but media and Texas officials have named one of the pilots and four of the passengers.
Officials said on Tuesday the runway closure would prompt cancellations for at least 35 arrivals and 35 departures. It was not immediately clear how many total flights were impacted.
“We encourage passengers to continue to check with their airlines for any changes to their travel plans,” Thibodeau said in a Thursday morning email.
She did not immediately respond to questions about the status and location of the wreck.
The National Transportation Safety Board is leading an investigation into the crash and said Wednesday that it was working to move the plane to a secure site for further analysis. A preliminary, fact-finding report is expected within 30 days of the crash, but a final report including probable cause will not be released for 12-24 months, the board has said.
