HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an inmate died at the Madison County Detention Facility. According to MCSO, inmate Demetrius Lemonte Stewart, 52, was booked into the detention facility shortly after midnight Saturday morning after his arrest by the Huntsville Police Department on a probation violation warrant. At about 3 a.m., MCSO said detention officers conducted routine rounds in the housing area of the facility and that Stewart was last seen during the facility’s morning count at about 7:30 a.m. MCSO said he was found unresponsive during meal service about an hour later.
