The field of candidates for California governor expanded rapidly this year as a growing number of politicians entered the race to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom, but now it’s starting to shrink.Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, a major Democratic donor and the first well-known candidate to formally launch a campaign for governor in April 2023, said Friday morning that she is dropping out of the governor’s race and will instead run for state treasurer. Her announcement is the second big development in the governor’s race in the last two weeks. Last Wednesday, former Vice President Kamala Harris said she would not run,…
The outspoken vice president even resisted the chance to criticize laws governing freedom of speech and belief in the U.K., of which he has been damning in the past. He acknowledged he had “raised some criticism, concerns about our friends on this side of the Atlantic” but specified that “many of the things that I worry most about were happening in the United States from 2020 to 2024.” “I just don’t want other countries to follow us down what I think was a very dark path under the Biden administration,” Vance said, insisting that his concerns about free speech are…

The injured guest, identified by Royal Caribbean as an adult, did not fall through the hole, according to a spokesperson for the cruise line. “Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water…

(The Hill) — A federal judge in Maryland blocked President Donald Trump’s birthright citizenship restrictions nationwide late Thursday, the fourth such ruling following the Supreme Court’s decision clawing back universal injunctions. Last week, the appeals court sent the case back to Boardman so she could issue the ruling. The new phase of litigation follows the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision along ideological lines curtailing judges’ ability to issue universal injunctions. The…
