A second threat was reported Friday at the suburban Chicago hotel and convention center that was housing Texas Democrats in Illinois while battling a redistricting controversy. Police said just after 8:30 a.m. Friday, St. Charles officers responded to report of a “second potential bomb threat” at the Q Center hotel and convention complex. The bomb threat marks the second such threat at the facility this week, with an earlier threat forcing the evacuation of more than 400 people Wednesday. Rapper YNW Melly’s double-murder retrial was pushed back to January 2027 on Friday. The 4th District Court of Appeals granted a stay in the case as it considers a motion by the state attorney’s office. That prevents the trial from beginning in September as expected. Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, is accused in the shooting deaths of two friends in October of 2018. He has been in custody since his arrest in 2019. The Indiana Department of Transportation says alternating lane closures on U.S. 231/State Road 54 near Bloomfield in Greene County are scheduled to begin Monday, August 18th for asphalt patching work. They will take place between the White River Bridge and the town limits on the west side of Bloomfield. Work is expected to take a month to complete, depending on the weather.
