SAN JOSE — A person was hit and killed by a motorist after walking onto a South Bay freeway early Sunday morning, authorities said. The collision happened around 2:45 a.m. on Interstate 280, near Highway 87, in San Jose, according to the California Highway Patrol. A Toyota Corolla was travelling southbound in the far right lane at 65 mph when the person stepped into its path.
