Every type of pasta has a purpose, and often a sauce to match. This recipe, which comes from the cookbook “The Talisman of Happiness,” matches tortiglioni with peppers and eggplant. Of course, many pasta types are interchangeable. To cook and prepare dried pasta, there are a series of steps that have to be done carefully and need your undivided attention. The water must be carefully measured. The calculation is easy: 10 cups of water for every 1 pound of pasta. Add the salt as soon as the water starts to boil. It is important to ensure that the pasta does…
TikTok agreed to settle the first in a series of closely-watched product liability cases Monday, bowing out on the eve of a landmark trial that could upend how social media giants engage their youngest users and leave tech titans on the hook for billions in damages. The settlement was reached as jury selection was set to begin in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday and comes a week after Snap reached a deal with the same plaintiff, a Chico, Calif., woman who said she became addicted to social media starting in elementary school. “This settlement should come as no…

Militias aligned with Iran warned the US that they would retaliate against any American attack on the Islamic Republic, as the Trump administration mobilises to limit the fallout of potential strikes. The warnings recall tensions from 2025, when the US, Israel and Iran engaged in direct conflict, but also underscore the dangers for militia groups aligned with Iran if they decide to engage in a fresh war. Kataib Hezbollah in Iraq said it was prepared for “total war” if the US attacked Iran. Abu Hussein al‑Hamidawi, the Iraqi group’s leader, said the “enemies” of the Islamic Republic will face “the…
The first official challenge to Tommy Tuberville’s run for governor based on his residency has landed with the Alabama Republican Party. Republican candidate and businessman Ken McFeeters, who is running against Tuberville for governor, filed the official complaint Tuesday morning, according to a press release he sent to media. The challenge cites Alabama’s constitution, Article V, Section 117, which requires that all candidates for governor reside in the state for the “seven years next before the date of their election.” McFeeters notes that courts in Alabama have repeatedly defined the term “next” in the requirements to mean the continuous seven…

In the 1970s and 1980s, rising engagement by Black and Hispanic voters reshaped the landscape. By the 1990s, minority…
