Film Alley, the new Breckenridge Village movie theater taking the place of the former Regal UA Breckenridge, is expected to open in August, according to a Facebook post from Kelley Commercial Partners earlier this month.
The eagle-eyed Eric E. Harrison, author of the weekly Restaurant Transitions in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, spotted the social media post and mentioned it in his July 16 column. (The article also included news on the opening of Las Mamalonas Mexican Bar and Grill in the former Copeland’s of New Orleans space in the Shackleford Crossings Shopping Center, which we also missed.)
Film Alley is a concept from Texas-based Schulman Theatres, Inc., and a press release issued last year described it as a movie entertainment center featuring an arcade, eight lanes of duckpin bowling, eight dine-in movie auditoriums with heated recliner seating and one “premium large format auditorium.”
The new theater is part of an ongoing multimillion-dollar revitalization of the Breckenridge shopping center that was announced in 2022 after a new ownership group comprised of The Kelley Group, the Keet Family, Dale V. “Bo” Briggs, the Nashville-based Bodnar Group and others purchased the property.
Several new eateries have set up shop in the complex since the purchase, including Waldo’s Chicken & Beer and new locations for The Root Cafe and Hot Springs’ Deluca’s Pizza. Flyway Brewing’s chief operating officer Rob Byford told the Arkansas Times today that the brewery is targeting a November opening for a new taproom in Breckenridge Village.
Last year, the Little Rock Board of Directors approved a temporary entertainment district encompassing the entire Breckenridge Village property, allowing visitors to drink alcohol anywhere in the complex seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. In January, the board voted to extend the entertainment district designation until the end of 2025.
