Two more have advanced in the ongoing WWE King of the Ring tournament, with two men punching their tickets into the next round.
On Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, Randy Orton earned a spot in the next round. In a Fatal 4-Way match against LA Knight, Aleister Black, and Carmelo Hayes, Orton came out on top. The match ended after Bron Breakker appeared, hitting a big Spear on Knight. With Knight out of the equation, Orton hit Hayes with an RKO, then pinned Knight, who had been hit by Hayes after he got RKO’d.
Later in the night, Cody Rhodes made sure his name was still in the tournament as well. In a match featuring Shinsuke Nakamura, Andrade, and Damian Priest, Rhodes nearly lost after Nakamura looked primed to hit a Cross Rhodes on Cody. The superstar got out of it, though, and hit his signature move on Nakamura for the win.
The winners of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments will receive a respective championship match at WWE SummerSlam. Orton will face off against Sami Zayn in the semifinals, while Rhodes will have to wait to see who he faces. On the women’s side, Jade Cargill and Roxanne Perez face off, while Alexa Bliss waits for her next opponent.
King and Queen of the Ring was last held last year, with its own official event also in Saudi Arabia. That show saw Gunther defeat Randy Orton in the King of the Ring tournament, while Nia Jax beat Lyra Valkyria in the Queen of the Ring final.
