Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has confirmed new striker Benjamin Sesko is ready to start against Arsenal on Sunday.
The Red Devils get their new Premier League campaign underway at Old Trafford against their old foes, having finished way behind the Gunners last season.
But this summer, Amorim has added Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha to the ranks, in an effort to bring the club back up to the level they are used to performing at.
Speaking at his first pre-match press conference of the season, he said: “I am really happy, I think he has great potential, he can play different types of football.
“I can see Ben being a striker for Man Utd for long period, that is why we paid so much money to have a striker who has a history at this club.
“We didn’t have a lot of time but he is ready, physically he is ready, that is a big component in our league. He is ready to play, we will see if he is going to start.”
“We want to return to Europe, but it is hard as a Man Utd coach to say one thing like that.
“We are going to fight for it. We are going to improve, we want to focus game by game.”
Bruno Fernandes will once again lead the side out as captain in 2025-26, and he is hoping the spotlight is on the team this term, rather than him.
Amorim agreed with the statement from his leader, but admits he still wants him to play a starring role.
He added: “Even last season when he played as a midfielder, he had more shots near the box.
“I think it is a good thing for Bruno to stay in one position. Then he is winning a lot of things.
“I want Bruno near the ball and that is really important for our team, but sometimes we need Bruno near the goal. We will try to arrange game by game the best players in the best positions.”
