IN THE NEWS: Trump administration budget cuts have left the National Park Service short-staffed in the peak summer travel season. According to the National Parks Conservation Association, nearly a quarter of permanent employees are now gone, while hiring of temporary employees is way behind.
Meanwhile, whatever money might have been saved by undermining the national parks has been squandered by President Donald Trump’s massive, debt-raising tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans who, unlike working class folks, can fly their private jets to visit national parks in other countries.
