The Wastewater Division of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) responded to a wastewater discharge in the 4500 block of Leighton Avenue while contractor crews were making repairs to a sanitary sewer line.
During the work, a bypass pumping hose disconnected, causing wastewater to spray onto the adjacent ground and sidewalk. Crews immediately stopped pumping operations, repaired the hose, and cleaned the affected area before resuming repairs.
The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department was informed about the event.
