A woman had to be airlifted to a hospital after the watercraft she was riding crashed on a western Indiana lake, leaving her with serious injuries.
According to Indiana Department of Natural Resources officials, the crash occurred Friday night on Cecil Harden Lake in the Raccoon Lake State Recreation Area.
Officers were called to the scene, and upon arrival they found two injured women in the lake, one of whom had sustained what was described as a “severe laceration” on her leg.
An officer entered the water and applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding, and the victim was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital.
The watercraft the women had been riding had crashed into the shore during the collision, according to police. Both women were wearing lifejackets at the time of the crash.
No further information was immediately available.
