BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Reverend Jimmy Swaggart passed away at the age of 90 on Tuesday, July 1, his family announced.
Several state leaders and lawmakers have expressed their condolences.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry wrote, “Rest in peace to Rev. Jimmy Swaggart. He devoted much of his life to bringing people to Christ. Our prayers go out to the Swaggart family during this difficult time.”
Attorney General Liz Murrill shared a statement saying, “End of an era. Rest in Peace to a Louisiana legend. Please join me in praying for the Swaggart family and members of his congregation.”
Swaggart suffered a cardiac arrest on Father’s Day and had been in the hospital since then.
