[1] Video: Trailer home swept up in another round of flooding in Ruidoso – Rain caused more flooding in Ruidoso, leading to damaged homes and at least five swift water rescues. Video shows a trailer being swept away and water flowing over paradise canyon, which has already been hard hit by flooding this month. The village has shelters set up for those who need it at ENMU Ruidoso campus and the Ruidoso Community Center.
[2] VIDEO: ABQ bus driver stabs passenger after fight on the bus – New video shows a fight on an Albuquerque bus that turned deadly. Earlier this month David Gabaldon was driving a city bus when he picked up passengers along Coors. One passenger had something to say about his punctuality. The passenger continues exchanging words with Gabaldon, who then stopped the bus and demanded the man get out. Another passenger, identified as Raymond Coan, stepped in. The situation escalated with Coan throwing a punch. A struggle broke out, and Gabaldon pepper sprayed Coan. The two eventually separated. The fight continued outside, where Gabaldon was seen reaching for what appeared to be a knife and stabbing Coan at least twice on camera. Coan was taken to the hospital, but did not survive. Gabaldon was arrested and faces murder charges.
[3] Hotter and drier weekend ahead – Storms will again develop along the central mountain chain and the northern mountains early this afternoon. These storms will move to the east, northeast into the afternoon and evening. High temperatures will be up to near and above average for this time of year. Even drier air will move into New Mexico Saturday. Temperatures will be above average statewide. Some monsoon moisture will start moving back into the state Sunday, bringing storm chances to parts of southern New Mexico. Temperatures will stay hot.
[4] NM man sentenced for bid-rigging scheme – A Shiprock man will spend five years in prison after pleading guilty to federal charges in a bid-rigging scheme. William Badoni, 62, worked with an employee of Kinteel Residential Campus, Inc. to receive confidential information about construction projects and the bidding process. That information helped ensure his company received contracts. He also created false or fake bids from other companies and admitted to paying kickbacks and working to make sure he could hide fraudulently obtained funds.
[5] What to know about New Mexico’s 2025 tax-free weekend – As students get ready to go back to school, the state is helping New Mexicans save money on back-to-school shopping. Tax Free Weekend will start Friday July 25 and end on Sunday, July 27 at midnight. During that time, sales tax will not be charged on clothing, shoes, computers, and school supplies. The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department said people can save 5% or more on their purchases.
