The forum is the first in a three part-series of discussions, with Play’n GO also participating in the G20 Summit and United Nations General Assembly meetings on responsible gambling in 2025. The company is the only software developer invited to participate.
Play’n GO Head of Government Affairs Shawn Fluharty will lead a session on June 13 at the G7 Leaders Summit in Calgary. A range of global leaders, regulators, neuroscientists, and public health experts will take part in a consultation on gambling policy development as part of the Global Forum on Responsible Gaming and Gambling Policy.
The meeting aims to produce recommendations for international lawmakers on public health, youth protection, innovation, and societal prosperity, which will be presented through policy channels.
it’s imperative to bring firsthand industry experience to policy discussions”
Shawn Fluharty, Head of Government Affairs at Play’n GO, told VegasSlotsOnline News: “As the only online gaming supplier present at the G7, G20 and UN forums, it’s imperative to bring firsthand industry experience to policy discussions. Collaborating with lawmakers and regulators ensures the development of unified safeguards that limit unlicensed activity and promote a healthy, fully regulated market. Play’n GO’s upcoming participation is a clear demonstration of our commitment to a sustainable entertainment model and to upholding the highest standards of consumer protection through regulation.”
Play’n GO has taken the lead in advocacy for online gambling regulation for several years. For instance, on May 6, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Johan Törnqvist, announced the company would never supply games to sweepstake casinos, saying, “Sweepstakes casinos do not operate inside a regulated framework and that’s not something we support. Our commitment to regulated markets is absolute.”
