AEW has just re-signed another star. 26-year-old Hook is reportedly under a “multiple-year contract,” according to the latest report from Fightful Select. This news comes only a day after AEW aired a vignette during Dynamite about his upcoming return.
Hook Returning To TV Soon
The only other details that Fightful Select shared were that the son of Taz actually signed the contract sometime in 2024. But news about this re-signing has just come to light since the Batman-inspired vignette teasing his return aired on Wednesday.
Hook was last in action during the May 9 episode of Dynamite, where he teamed with Samoa Joe to defeat the Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta). A video of him vomiting twice during the match went viral on social media. Hook later revealed that he was dealing with a concussion while speaking on Wrestling Observer Live. He said:
“I’m recovering from a concussion for those who don’t know, but I’ve been out for a while and should be back soon.”
At the moment, Hook is in a stable with Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata called The Opps. They currently hold the AEW World Trios Titles and have since April 16.
Hook’s Career In AEW So Far
Hook made his AEW in-ring debut on the December 8, 2021, episode of AEW Rampage. In his debut match, he defeated Fuego Del Sol. Nearly a year later, on the July 7, 2022 episode of Dynamite, he defeated then-AEW star Ricky Starks for the FTW Championship. The FTW Title was created by his father, Taz, in 1998 while in ECW. Taz brought the title back from the dead when he was the leader of the stable Team Taz.
Hook’s first reign as champion lasted for over 350 days, and he would lose it to Jack Perry during the 2023 Dynamite edition of Blood and Guts.
Though it wouldn’t be long until Hook would get the title back from Perry. He defeated Perry during the pre-show of AEW All In London in August 2023.
His second reign would last from August 2023 to April 2024. During the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view, Hook would lose it to Chris Jericho, with whom he was feuding with at the time. The feud even had Taz involved.
A few months later, at AEW All In, Hook would defeat Jericho. The win would mark his third and last reign. The title has been inactive since Hook successfully defended against Roderick Strong in September 2024 for the Dynamite special, Grand Slam.
Overall, Hook has plenty of years left in his career and does have the potential to be a world champion someday. Not only does he have his father’s mentorship, but the Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil was trained by the Nightmare Factory, aka current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes’ training school with QT Marshall.
