If you will be headed to Wichita in October to attend TBEX Summit America 2025, Wichita has two standout wildlife attractions you won’t want to miss.
Sedgwick County Zoo and Tanganyika Wildlife Park offer unforgettable, hands-on experiences that go beyond just watching from afar – these are places where you can get up close, feed, learn, splash and snap the kind of photos you’ll want to share with the world.
Sedgwick County Zoo
Kick off a fun day at the Sedgwick County Zoo, home to more than 3,000 animals from around the globe. Spanning nearly 250 acres, the zoo is well-shaded, walkable and full of interactive features. Plus, the zoo’s elephant herd has welcomed not one, not two, but three baby African elephants since April.
Start your adventure with a ride on the Safari Express Train, now offering behind-the-scenes views and easy access across the expansive grounds. Then head to Stingray Cove, where you can touch gentle rays and sharks in a saltwater pool.
Other can’t-miss encounters include:
- Feeding giraffes from an elevated deck
- A boat ride through a canal that shares the water with the zoo’s elephant herd
- Wild Encounters like behind-the-scenes tours with penguins, rhinos and Aldabra tortoises
- Keeper chats and animal feedings scheduled throughout the day
Tanganyika Wildlife Park
At Tanganyika Wildlife Park, the theme is interaction. This easy-to-navigate park features more than a dozen up-close animal experiences. Start with Ring-Tailed Lemur Island, where lemurs might stroll across your lap as you feed them a treat. Then move on to lorikeet feeding, giraffe selfies and even touching a kangaroo.
Some highlights of what’s new and popular at Tanganyika:
- Unlimited animal feeding passes and new all-inclusive model
- Exclusive animal Meet & Greets with sloths, capybaras and more
- Behind-the-Scenes tours with big cats, pygmy hippos and otters
Make sure to grab lunch at Luna’s Canteen or cool off with a drink from The Thirsty Sloth.
