Saturday night’s alright for Collidin’!
We open at ringside as commentary welcomes Paul Walter Hauser to the booth, and Kyle Fletcher makes his way out for our opening contest. We get a look at the attack on Dustin Rhodes as commentary addresses Dustin needing surgery, while Tomohiro Ishii makes his way to the ring to get this match underway for the TNT Title!
TNT Championship Match: Kyle Fletcher defends against Tomohiro Ishii
Ishii goes on the attack early on which leads to champ and challenger trading forearm strikes. Things slow down for just a moment before they go right back to it. Fletcher gets Tomohiro rockin as he hits the ropes, but it’s the champ who drops to the mat with a shoulder tackle from Ishii! Kyle tries to get back into it but is sent to the ropes by the challenger, leading to Fletcher taking a breather on the outside.
The crowd boos as Kyle takes his sweet time getting back into the ring, laying some chops into Tomohiro…who responds by sending the champ crashing into the corner! He brings Fletcher to another corner for some more chops, continuing to wear Kyle down until the champ turns it around to send Ishii to the mat with a hard kick.
Fletcher continues to keep on top of the challenger, taking a couple kicks from Ishii before taking him down with a scoop slam. The champ sets up a chinlock but it proves of little use to the Stone Pitbull, who fights to his feet before dropping Fletcher with a Saito suplex. Ishii hits the ropes, only to be taken to the mat with a powerslam as we go to break on HBO Max.
-FULL AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-
Back from break, the two duke it out looking for a vertical suplex or brainbuster…and it’s the challenger who gets the upper hand with the suplex. Ishii back on his feet as Fletcher goes to the ropes, only to be taken down hard with a shoulder tackle from the Stone Pitbull…who brings the champ to the corner to set him up on the top turnbuckle.
Fletcher starts to fight back before taking a headbutt from the challenger, allowing Ishii to connect with a superplex and a close nearfall before Kyle kicks out. Fletcher catches Tomohiro on the ropes to force him to the floor, bringing him back onto the apron for a brainbuster…fending off the challenger long enough to land a sheer drop brainbuster onto the hardest part of the ring! After a moment, Fletcher brings Ishii back into the ring before landing what Nigel calls a Froggy Bow for the cover…but Ishii manages to kick out!
Both men get back to their feet to go at it, eventually leading to another trade of strikes before Fletcher takes him down with a knee strike. He brings the challenger to the corner but is met with a powerbomb by the Stone Pitbull instead. Ishii hits the ropes for a big lariat and the cover, but once again the champ saves it for himself at two.
Kyle lands a knee to keep Ishii back, only to be tackled to the mat with a headbutt as the challenger gets another nearfall. Kyle fights back to his feet for a powerbomb of his own, but Ishii manages to kick out at two…only to take a couple kicks in the corner by Fletcher. Ishii starts to fight back once more, but Kyle catches him with another sheer drop brainbuster to pick up the win and retain the title!
Winner via pinfall and still TNT Champion: Kyle Fletcher
Kyle gets a microphone to tell Roanoke they have just witnessed history. This was the first successful defense in the greatest title reign in history. He calls Ishii the latest bonafide legend that Fletcher has mopped the floor with after Adam Cole and Dustin Rhodes. Kyle thinks about what’s next and says he looks ahead to Forbidden Door. He thinks about his New Japan days, telling them to bring their pound for pound best to challenge him for the TNT Championship. Kyle says it doesn’t matter who they bring as he’ll be holding the title up high when it’s all over, and people will have no choice but to say his full name.
Backstage, we hear from Don Callis who says it felt good to see Fletcher beat a New Japan guy today. He shows off his New Japan tie that they gave him when he worked for the company, as he invites New Japan to bring their best to Cincinnati and when Kyle takes them down, Don will take his one of a kind tie and choke them out.
Next week on Collision we’ll four men go at it in what is being billed a “technical spectacle” for a shot at Zack Sabre Jr. and the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Forbidden Door: Hechicero, Nigel McGuinness, Lee Moriarty, and Daniel Garcia!
Earlier today, Ricochet and GOA sent a message backstage as Ricochet makes demands for respect and more.
-Commercial Break-
Backstage, Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne address Christian Cage and his “empty lies.” Nick says that despite what Cage had to say last week, he is already a star…and if anyone is shocked about what they did to Christian, they ain’t seen nothing yet. Their next chapter is ending the career of Christian Cage.
We head back to ringside for our next match, with Emily Rose already in the ring as Megan Bayne makes her entrance alongside Penelope Ford to get this match underway!
Megan Bayne vs. Emily Rose
Rose gets taken down with a spear before Megan sends her to the corner for a splash and a butterfly suplex. Bayne on the most dangerous rope to get the drop on Emily, who fights back from the corner to climb up herself. This doesn’t last long as Bayne drops her with the running Liger Bomb for the win!
Winner via pinfall: Megan Bayne
The importance of this match becomes very clear as we quickly go backstage, where Big Bill and Bryan Keith address Juice Robinson after they were eliminated from the Tag Title Eliminator Tournament. Bill promises that Juice has exactly what he deserves coming to him.
Speaking of, we go back to ringside as the Bang Bang Gang (well, Juice and Austin Gunn along with cardboard Jay White and cardboard Colten Gunn) make their entrance for our next match. Ricochet makes his way to the ring next, and this match gets underway!
Juice Robinson vs. Ricochet
The crowd chants for Juice, leading to Ricochet leaving the ring as he has issues with the crowd continuing their antics. He finally gets back in the ring, only to be sent to the corner by Robinson. Ricochet fights back, breaking free of a waistlock by Robinson to leave the ring…and take out the Colten cutout. This gets boos as he gets back in the ring, where he and Robinson trade some more strikes. This leads to Ricochet taking one on the head by Robinson, a “you are bald” chant breaking out as Robinson takes him down for a two count.
Juice sends Ricochet back to the corner for a headbutt, laying in some more damage as we see Toa Liona appear on the stage. Austin goes to deal with him as Bishop Kaun goes after Robinson, allowing Ricochet to get the upper hand as we go to an ad break on HBO Max.
-FULL AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-
Back from break, Robinson is struggling to break free of Ricochet’s grip before finally getting to his feet. He catches Ricochet off the ropes for a spinebuster and a nearfall. Ricochet is back up but takes a series of jabs from Robinson before getting laid out with the left hand! Ricochet is slow to get back up, taking a leg lariat that gets Robinson a two count. Ricochet manages to fight back, sending Juice to the corner for a DDT but Robinson manages to kick out at two to save the match for himself.
Ricochet gets to his feet and hits the ropes, only to run into a big lariat from Juice for another close nearfall. Ricochet escapes to the ropes, catching Robinson on the jaw to set up for a springboard elbow. Standing moonsault and a shooting star lead to a tight two count before Juice kicks out. Ricochet heads back to the corner, looking for a Spirit Gun…but Juice ducks! Flatliner and a roll up get a two count as the crowd cheers in approval.
GOA get involved once more, this time allowing Big Bill to sneak into the ring for a big boot on Robinson that leads to the pinfall victory by Ricochet!
Winner via pinfall: Ricochet
He celebrates with GOA, as commentary takes a look “By The Numbers” at Athena ahead of the AEW Women’s World Championship at Forbidden Door.
-Commercial Break-
We take a look at last week’s Best Wrestler Alive challenge and RUSH being the first to “survive five (minutes) with the Best Wrestler Alive” before LFI attacked him, only to be interrupted by AR Fox and JetSpeed. Backstage we hear from Caster, who says thanks but no thanks for the help before looking to warm up for this week’s challenge. Let’s go Max, you’re the Best Wrestler Ali–yeah, I’m tired just typing that out. We move on.
We head back to ringside as FTR and Stokely make their way out. Ryan Zukko, Joe Keys, and Josh Fuller are already in the ring as this trios match gets underway!
FTR & Stokely vs. Ryan Zukko, Joe Keys, & Josh Fuller
Keys starts things off with Cash Wheeler, who gets the upper hand early on before tagging in Dax while telling Stoke it’s not easy. Zukko tags in but is taken to his limit by Harwood before tagging in Fuller…who suffers a similar fate before Stokely is tagged in for some cheap shots on Josh. Cash tags back in as FTR go to work on Fuller, who sends them away to make the tag to Zukko…who ends up taking a Shatter Machine before Stokely gets a tag for a spike piledriver (eventually) that gets him the win.
Winners via pinfall: FTR & Stokely
The trio celebrate as we cut to a video package looking at the issues between Darby Allin and Jon Moxley, leading to the pair potentially facing off at Forbidden Door.
Back at ringside, Daniel Garcia joins commentary for our next match as Hechicero and AR Fox make their entrances to get this underway!
Hechicero vs. AR Fox
The pair trade offense until Fox manages to get the upper hand, sending Hechicero to the outside for a dive sending the luchador to the floor! He brings Hechicero back in the ring, going up top for a swanton bomb…right onto the knees of Hechicero! The luchador blocks a DDT from Fox, spinning him around for a modified backbreaker before sending him into the corner for a splash as we go to an ad break on HBO Max.
-FULL AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-
Back from break, Fox is sent to the corner by Hechicero only to dodge a flying attack…with the luchador fighting back with a tornado DDT! They trade strikes in the middle of the ring until Fox hits an enziguri on Hechicero, who heads to the corner only to take a diving elbow by Fox sending him to the mat. Fox up top for a swanton that connects this time, but the luchador manages to kick out at two.
Fox sets up for a 450 splash off the turnbukle, but Hechicero rolls out of the way and locks in a unique submission hold to force Fox to tap out!
Winner via submission: Hechicero
STP alongside Lee Moriarty watch on from backstage, with Daniel Garcia and Nigel making note of things from ringside ahead of their “technical spectacle” next week.
A video package puts a focus on Max Caster and Anthony Bowens and what the former Acclaimed have been up to since their split. Issues have been brewing between Bowens and Billy Gunn in the meantime, and the frustration is clear from the 5-Tool Player.
-Commercial Break-
We come back to a vignette essentially hinting at the return of Harley Cameron, with what I’m calling a nice little nod to the 1994 film The Mask.
Back at ringside, the Triangle of Madness head down for our next match. Tay Melo, Queen Aminata, and Willow Nightingale make their entrance next before this match gets underway!
Queen Aminata, Tay Melo and Willow Nightingale vs. Triangle Of Madness (Thekla, Skye Blue and Julia Hart)
We start off with Thekla and Aminata going at it, with the Queen landing a snapmare and, uh, chocolate kisses before it gets broken up. Thekla gets an opening to strike, sending the Queen to the mat for a nearfall. Tay and Julia with their tag in, going at it until Melo takes the former TBS Champion to the canvas and then to the corner for a tag to Willow Nightingale. Willow takes Hart to the corner for a series of punches, before Thekla intervenes.
Nightingale sends her away before going back after Julia, who fights her off long enough to make the tag to Skye Blue. Willow immediately goes back on the offense, setting up a camel clutch while Tay and Aminata keep the rest of the Triangle out of the ring before joining in the fun while we go to ad break on HBO Max.
-FULL AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-
Back from break, a tag is missed from Willow to Aminata, just before chaos ensues between all six women. We end with Willow and Thekla still in the ring, the latter taking a lariat as tags are finally made to Aminata and Skye. Aminata takes Blue to the corner before landing a swinging neckbreaker, but Thekla breaks the pin attempt. Tay with a tag to send Skye to the corner, before landing a hammerlock DDT for a cover.
Once again Thekla stops it just in time, and the Toxic Spider lives up to her moniker before getting laid out with a pounce from Nightingale! Willow gets sent to the outside before Tay rolls up Skye. Gory Special is blocked, with Skye and Julia doing an assisted DDT to pick up the victory!
Winners via pinfall: Triangle Of Madness
As they celebrate, we get a message from Sky Flight to Don Callis to “keep shooting” before hearing from FTR and Stokely ahead of their respective matches on Dynamite.
Back at ringside, Max Caster congratulates RUSH before setting up for this week’s Best Wrestler Alive challenge…and it’s Katsuyori Shibata making his way out to answer the call as this match gets underway!
Best Wrestler Alive Challenge: Max Caster vs. Katsuyori Shibata
Shibata gets the upper hand early, really laying in the damage on the so-called Best Wrestler Alive as the onscreen clock continues to count down. We get a nearfall before Caster tries to get back into it…only to get sent down to the mat for a PK by Shibata who gets the pin.
Winner via pinfall: Katsuyori Shibata
Shibata offers a handshake to Caster, raising his hand before LFI rush the ring to beat them down. JetSpeed come running down for the save, and there’s chaos at ringside as we go to commercial break ahead of our main event!
-COMMERCIAL BREAK-
All that hoopla before the break leads to Hangman Adam Page making his way out to a huge pop from the hometown crowd as the AEW World Champion heads to the ring. With that, this main event gets underway!
AEW World Champion ‘Hangman’ Adam Page and JetSpeed (Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey) vs. La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico, Rush and The Beast Mortos)
Mortos and Page start things off trading offense, with a leapfrog from Mortos only for the Beast to take a boot to the face by the Hangman. Crowd loud and proud for the champ as Rush tags in, the two men staring each other down before trading strikes. Rush has the champ against the ropes, distracting the ref enough for LFI to try and get some shots of their own in…and this leads to chaos in and out of the ring with things clearing out to bring us back to Rush and Page. Rush ends up on the outside, allowing Page to take him to the floor with a moonsault off the top turnbuckle to a roar of approval from the crowd!
He brings Rush back in the ring, setting him up for a chop and sending him to the ropes. Rush fights back with some boots on the champ before tagging in Dralistico. Dralistico lays in some strikes on Page, but the Hangman takes him down hard before tagging in Kevin Knight, who in turn tags in Mike Bailey. JetSpeed work together on taking Dralistico before Bailey gets a two count. Speedball is brought to the LFI corner where they triple-team on Speedball, culminating in a triple dropkick for a close nearfall.
Mortos with the tag now, laying into Speedball to keep him away from the corner…but Knight manages to get the tag just as Dralistico comes in as well. Knight manages to keep him at bay, sending Dralistico to the outside for a dive as we go to ad break on HBO Max!
-FULL AD BREAK (ON HBO MAX)-
Back from break, Page gets the tag to go after Rush, but the Beast and Dralistico try to intervene before the champ sends them away for a dive. This gives Rush an opening for a moment, but Page drops him with a Death Valley Driver for a two count. Rush stops a discus lariat to send him into the corner with an exploder suplex, before kicking away at the champ. He sets up for The Horns but is cut off by Knight, with things quickly breaking down once more between all six competitors.
In the midst of the chaos, Rush gets a roll up and a nearfall on the champ. Tag made to Dralistico who brings Page to the LFI corner for a triple team, but JetSpeed make their way in for the save before Mortos send them to the outside for a torneo sending them to the floor. JetSpeed get back on their feet, but not for long as Rush gets the drops on them while Dralistico takes a powerbomb from the champ. Buckshot Lariat is stopped by the Beast and Rush, but Dralistico takes a double dropkick from JetSpeed who keep LFI down on the floor while Page lands a Buckshot Lariat for the win!
Winners via pinfall: ‘Hangman’ Adam Page and JetSpeed (Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey)
The trio celebrate as commentary hypes up Dynamite on Wednesday and the 4-Way match for next week’s Collision, as we bring this show to a close.
