ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – On this episode of New Mexico Crime Files, KRQE Anchors Dean Staley and Jessica Garate talk about a January 2024 high-speed chase down a dark, dirty county road in the middle of the night. New Mexico State Police near Santa Fe notice a car swerving down I-25 and attempt to pull the car over. The driver, Diego Talamantes, pulls off an exit, but instead of stopping, loops back around and gets back on the freeway. How the chase finally comes to an end, the reason the suspect gives for running.
Then, in March of 2022, Santa Fe police received reports of a possible abduction when witnesses said a man forced a woman into a car outside a department store. Weeks later, police spot the reported vehicle, and when they attempt to make a stop, a car chase going the wrong way on the freeway ensues.
