NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Eight people have been shot in New Orleans across four incidents that occurred within nine hours on Saturday, June 28.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the first of the incidents became a homicide investigation in the Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood of New Orleans, and was reported around 12:38 a.m. Details of that incident have been covered by WGNO in a dedicated article.
The next shooting incident reportedly happened at a house party at the intersection of Bill Street and Gus Street in New Orleans East around 1:18 a.m.
Police say as the victims were present, multiple gunshots were fired, leaving a female and three males injured. The four of them arrived at two separate hospitals via private conveyance.
The third shooting reportedly happened around 1:22 a.m. in the 2600 block of General De Gaulle Drive, where a man was shot in the body at least one time. He arrived at a local hospital by private conveyance.
In the fourth incident, a 16-year-old male was reported to have been shot in the hand around 9:28 a.m., with confirmation at 9:49 a.m. Police say the shooting happened in the 10000 block of Dwyer Road in New Orleans East. He was also taken to a local hospital by private conveyance.
