A routine trip to the doctor turned into the biggest surprise of one couple’s lives—and their doorbell camera captured it all.
In a clip on TikTok, Saydie (@saydadiuh), 27, and her husband Dakota, 33, shared footage from their home Ring doorbell camera in Fort Carson, Colorado, leaving for what they thought would be a standard 38-week prenatal appointment.
At 7:44 a.m., on August 7, Dakota locks the front door and the soon-to-be parents head toward their car.

But when the clip cuts three days later, the couple approach their porch with a new addition: their baby girl Seren.
“We were definitely not fully prepared to have a baby that day or in the following days,” Saydie told Newsweek, recalling the unexpected turn their appointment took. “I felt completely fine, nothing really out of the normal, so we definitely didn’t think that was coming.”
The surprise start to their parenting journey mirrors how the pregnancy itself began. “My husband just made me take a test one morning before he went to work because it was killing him not knowing,” Saydie said.
What began as a 38-week checkup quickly escalated. Doctors noticed Saydie’s blood pressure was high and ran additional tests.
“Next thing we know the doctor came in and said they wanted to induce me, and we weren’t leaving the hospital without a baby in our arms,” she said.
The news was especially surprising since, as Saydie said, they were procrastinating whilst getting their hospital bag ready.
Three days later, the couple returned home with their baby girl. Becoming new parents, Saydie said, still feels surreal.
“It didn’t feel real—it still doesn’t. It felt like there’s no way this is our baby, and we’re just supposed to go home with this fragile little human,” she said.
Saydie’s clip has been viewed over 288,000 times. Many other moms commented on the viral video with similar stories of their own.
“This happened to me too! went to my 38 week check up and got admitted with preeclampsia. Had my boy 2 days later,” one user wrote.
“That’s how I was this last baby as well! My doctor, said oop you’re 3cm go walk around the hospital for an hour and come back. I gave birth that night lol,” another added.
The couple is now adjusting to life as first-time parents. “We’re still trying to get the hang of it and running on no sleep, but everyone is happy and healthy,” Saydie said.
