A woman was seriously injured after being attacked by two large dogs inside of her Ashburnham home Saturday morning, police said.
Police saw a woman being actively attacked by two large dogs inside of her house on Gardner Road through the front door glass, the Ashburnham Police Department said in a press release.
When police and fire departments forced entry into the house, both dogs lunged, police said.
Officers used a taser to fend off the dogs, which was ineffective on one of them. An officer then shot one round at the dog to stop the attack, according to police.
The woman was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries, and officers on the scene sustained minor injuries, police said.
The conditions of the woman and the dogs were unknown as of Saturday afternoon, the department said.
The incident is under investigation by Ashburnham Police Department and Ashburnham/Gardner Regional Animal Control.
