ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The New Mexico Department of Justice (NMDOJ) has called off almost $2 million in liens filed against nearly 200 homes in the metro. The Attorney General’s Office said the liens are illegal, and the company Boreworxx did so after a contract dispute over fiber optic installations in Albuquerque.

NMDOJ said Boreworxx was subcontracted by Circet USA to do fiber optic installation. But the AG’s office said Circet deemed the work to be “unsatisfactory” and did not pay Boreworxx. As a result, Boreworxx filed 152 liens against homeowners, in what the DOJ said were “scare tactics.”
NMDOJ said those liens have been released by the owner of Boreworxx as they continue their investigation saying:
We will not tolerate abusive scare tactics or unethical behavior by businesses in this community,” said Attorney General Raúl Torrez in a news release. “Prompt reporting of this issue by both members of the community and the City of Albuquerque, enabled our office to take action and stop this company from holding homeowners hostage and using them as a bargaining chip in their ongoing contract dispute.”
The NMDOJ also added these stipulations:
- Shall discontinue communicating directly or indirectly with homeowners who previously received correspondence regarding the liens
- Shall promptly provide to the NMDOJ a comprehensive list of all individuals that have received correspondence regarding the liens
- Shall not delete, modify, lose, alter or destroy any documents or electronically stored information which relates to the subject matter
KRQE News 13 reached out to Boreworxx for comment, but did not hear back.
