NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Storms have started moving through the area Thursday afternoon bring some heavier rain to some spots.
There’s a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Ascension and St. James parishes on Thursday until 3 p.m. for severe thunderstorms that could bring 60-mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
Also, a Marine Warning is in effect until 3:15 p.m. on Thursday for the Lake Pontchartrain area for storms that could bring 40-mph wind gusts as well as damaging boats out on the water.

Storms will continue to move southward over the next hour of so then storm along the South Shore and coastal areas of Terrebonne & Lafourche parish.
Come 7 p.m., the South Shore will quiet down and the heavier storms will be along the North Shore and our Mississippi counties.
In terms of temperatures, some spots will hit 90-degrees on Thursday and hold tight for a few hours then we’ll be “cooling” down into the low 80s.
