Fewer showers and storms will pop up across New Mexico starting Wednesday as drier air moves into the state. Rain chances will increase though in northwest New Mexico and southwest Colorado.
Showers and storms have again brought heavy rain to parts of New Mexico Tuesday afternoon. The Albuquerque Metro briefly picked up heavy rainfall today, but our chance for rain through this evening is much lower now. Storms will continue to move to the southwest through this evening before ending overnight.
Drier air starts moving into New Mexico Wednesday, but we will still see isolated showers and storms in northern, western, and southern parts of the state. A couple of these storms in southeast New Mexico could turn strong. There will be a similar chance for rain Thursday afternoon.
High pressure continues to draw in drier air into southern and eastern New Mexico by Friday. However, rain chances will return to southwest Colorado, western and northern New Mexico. The chance for rain will continue in western and northern New Mexico Saturday, before spreading to the entire northern half of New Mexico Sunday. Isolated to scattered showers and storms will stick around into early next week as cooler temperatures also move in.
