GROTON, Conn. (NEWS10) — The Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Albany has arrived at Naval Submarine Base New London in Connecticut. USS Albany is named for Albany, New York.
It left Norfolk, Va., on August 14 on a scheduled homeport shift.
The USS Albany and crew will operate under Submarine Squadron (SUBRON) 4, whose primary mission is to man, train and equip sailors assigned to fast attack submarines to ensure that they are combat ready.
Commissioned on April 7, 1990, Albany is the fifth naval vessel to be named for the capital of New York state.
