HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Authorities say they need help finding a suspect accused of assaulting several women while riding a bicycle at various parks, with the most recent attack causing one woman to have a miscarriage, according to police.
The Houston Police Department said the attack happened in the 1900 block of Allen Parkway on July 31 at around 7:30 p.m.
The woman was reportedly walking in the park when she was approached from behind by the suspect riding a bicycle.
The suspect then allegedly grabbed the woman’s fanny pack that was on her waist, causing them both to fall on the ground. The suspect then stood and kicked the woman in her stomach and took off with her belongings, HPD said. The department said the attack resulted in the woman having a miscarriage.
Officials said they believe the suspect is tied to at least four other incidents in June and July, where all victims reported to police that they were touched inappropriately by a man riding his bike.
Police drew a composite sketch for a possible description of the suspect:
The suspect is described as a heavy-set white man in his mid-30s, wearing a red helmet, black and white shoes, and riding a navy blue or dark green bike.
Some people ABC13 spoke with at Allen Parkway said they are concerned that this person has not been identified yet.
“I used to feel safe at this park,” Maria Marcano said. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, you always have to be careful, but now it’s like you have to be even more careful.”
Leah Muniz said now that she’s seen this person’s sketch, she’ll be on the lookout for him.
“I always advise women to pack something on you like I do, because you never know,” Muniz said.
