ProPublica announced Monday that Caitlin Kelly has been hired as a senior editor.
She’ll start on Sept. 29.
In her previous role as a features editor at Wired, she edited an investigation into the Titan submersible disaster and “Priscilla, Queen of the Rideshare Mafia,” a finalist for the 2025 National Magazine Award for feature writing. Other pieces she worked on delved into artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, cybersecurity and aviation safety. Kelly also led Wired’s 2018 and 2020 election coverage as a news editor overseeing national affairs.
Before that, Kelly worked at Vice Media and Vice Sports, where a feature she edited on the racial injustice of college sports was featured in Best American Sports Writing.
“We are ecstatic to welcome Caitlin at such a critical juncture in history,” said Tracy Weber, managing editor, national, in a statement. “We’re looking forward to the rigor, creativity and ambition she will bring to our journalism.”
