Three dental offices from the L.A. area teamed up to provide free dental care to local veterans and community members on Saturday.
The initiative is part of Smile Generation Serve Day, an annual event put on by Smile Generation with help from PDS Health.
A total of 18 patients were treated by Dentists of Pico Rivera, Dentists of Rosemead and Dentists of Montebello on Saturday, Smile Generation said in a media release. All in all, they provided $110,000 in donated care.
In Studio City, Dr. David Park – himself a veteran – provided more than 80 veterans with free oral healthcare through a partnership with another agency, Hire Heroes USA.
“Treatment included extractions, crown replacements and deep cleanings,” Smile Generation officials said. “Los Angeles County has the largest population of military veterans in the country, yet most do not qualify for dental benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs.”
Over 15 years, Smile Generation Serve Day has provided more than $74 million in donated dental care nationwide.
