Maye made, and broke, a group of fans’ day by choosing who picks first through last in their fantasy draft.
Instead of drawing names from a hat or using an online number generator, one fantasy football league took a different approach to determining its draft order ahead of the 2025 season.
The group, consisting of 10 individuals, attended Patriots-Vikings joint practice in Minnesota this week and brought a poster showing every fantasy player’s name. They wanted one particular athlete in attendance to randomly select their draft order: Patriots second-year quarterback Drake Maye.
Before practice, as Maye and the rest of the team headed to the field, the group asked the QB if he could write on their poster who drafts first, second, and so forth once practice concluded. The 22-year-old agreed and promptly returned to the group afterward.
The poster donned autographs from several other players who stopped by the poster before Maye, their signatures surrounding the names of the fantasy participants with space for Maye to write numbers 1-10 next to them as he wishes.
Maye used a marker to, at random, quickly choose who would select first through last in their fantasy draft.

Maye, a Patriots fan-favorite, either made or broke those supporters’ day depending on where they were slotted to draft.
