FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Goddard School-Preschool & Daycare of Fort Wayne began raising money to help buy a car for their custodian, until one family helped seal the deal.
Friday, the school surprised him with his new car.
After learning that their custodian, Bobby, had to use public transportation just to get to the school, staff members and families started fundraising for a car to give to him.
Bobby explained that in his commute to and from work, he said he had to “stand across the street, and, you know, I had to go from downtown, from my home to downtown to catch the bus, and then go to Glenbrook and wait that couple hours, and then wait here in the hot sun too to catch the bus.”
One family, the Fazlics, stepped in to donate the car to Bobby. The rest of the funds raised were given to him in a check of $935 as a part of the surprise.
“I can’t can’t thank them enough,” Bobby said. “I just love just working here.”
